I won't go into too much detail in my comments, as other reviewers have generously taken the time to provide a lot of specifics. I will confirm all the other positive reactions to this excellent machine. The build quality, design, performance and value of this netbook are at the top of the scale. It amazes me that it's possible to purchase a computer of these capabilities at a price that only a few years ago got you a little handheld pda. If you're in the market for one of these, here are a couple of additional comments to aid in your decision-making.

Size: I had the chance to see an Asus 1000 beside a 900 at a local Best Buy. In my opinion, the 9 inch version was just too small; it was surprising how much larger the screen seemed on the 10-inch version. This ruled out machines like the Dell Mini for me. This Asus 1000HA, while it is small, is still large enough for nice all purpose usage, while still being incredibly portable.

Battery: I can confirm the general reports of 4-5 hours of battery life, depending on what you do with it. Netbooks like this one that use a 6-cell battery seem to have a distinct advantage over those that don't.

Color: I got the white one. It really hardly shows fingerprints at all; the black one quickly looks very smudged.

Quibbles: The touch screen is fantastic, with many cool features. However, the two finger scrolling doesn't work smoothly with Firefox unless you turn off the keyboard lock-out feature (which locks out the touchpad while you're typing). With that turned off, you have to really be careful not to touch the pad while you type or the cursor jumps all over the place. I'm hoping that Asus eventually provides a driver update to address this.

Heat: the bottom of the unit gets warm sometimes, but not so much that I'd consider it a deciding factor in a purchase decision.

Wireless range: Some users have reported concerns about the wireless range of this unit. I'm using this in a first floor room, and my wireless router is on the second floor at the opposite end of the house, and I've had perfect connections all the time. No issues here.
