I bought this notebook (sub-notebook?) about a month ago and by and large am very happy with it. I loaded Ubuntu Linux 8.10 to have a dual-boot system and I must say it runs Linux very well -- no problems on the Linux side. It's pretty fast and I love the battery life. The only "con" is the keyboard. It has a good feel and I can type just as fast as on my old (now deceased) full-sized Dell. The biggest gripe is the placement of the right shift key, as many others have shared. I tried remapping the keyboard (under Linux) and it works but is probably not worth it. (If I remap on the Linux side, then I would have to figure out how to do it on the XP side.) I just don't see how such a lame arrangement got past the design people at ASUS. Right beside the up-arrow key is a half-key's worth of space which is NOT USED. Why couldn't they have enlarged the shift key using that space? Aside from that, I'm pleased. I had to buy a USB-to-parallel converter to use my old parallel-port printer, but that was cheap and works OK. I also bought a little USB mouse and use it all the time. All in all, I'd probably buy this model again.Get more detail about ASUS Eee PC 1000HA 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB E-Storage, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Fine Ebony.
