I purchased this Netbook for my daughter to have for college. I was very nervous when placing the order because I thought I had to purchase a very expensive laptop with tons of ram and memory for all of her downloads, music, pictures, etc...but after much research and reading all of the Amazon reviews I decided to just go ahead and order the eee 1000HA. I am so happy I did. She loves the compact size and the ease of the wi-fi. It took me about 5 minutes to set it up to my wireless router. Just needed my WEP address from my router and *poof* done. She was able to load all of her music without any problems. There are slots for a larger external hard drive or you can easily upgrade from 160 to 320 or higher Hard Drive. No DVD/CD but of course, once again you can just pop in an external one if needed. You really don't because you can just use a memory stick to transfer any data as well as use your main PC. I am going to upgrade from 1 GB to 2 GB memory. I was a bit apprehensive about it, but if you go on YouTube and search Asus Eee 1000HA upgrade you will find that there are many videos of step by step instruction on how to upgrade your memory and your ram! So simple. All components of the computer are under a little panel on the bottom of the computer! Just unscrew, pop out the old and in with the new! Also, there is a slot for an XD/SD memory card as well as a webcam and great little speakers. I am SO HAPPY I purchased this computer instead of spending hundreds on another laptop. This is so perfect for her. She is going to be a journalist so the larger keypad is perfect!
