The hardware of the Asus Eee PC 1000HA is near perfect. If you can recall earlier generations of notebooks, the Eee PCs are a giant step forward in quality vs price - an unequivocal recommendation. Battery runtime with six cells is great.
The software... well, it's Windows XP. Even though Asus has to be lauded for not having included any "crapware" (useless pieces of advertising, trialware, or others), WinXP itself is still a hurdle. I've been a Windows/Linux user for many years (10+), and switched to Mac OS X more than a year ago. Now looking at a WinXP setup, with all the little switches and clicks and popups and adjustments is just a pain. Plainly, using the Eee with XP is like getting yourself a well-rounded system, only to tie it to your leg to hobble you down.
Concluding - if you're happy with WinXP, go for it, you probably won't get considerably better quality for your money anywhere else. If you're computer-savvy enough, try to install Mac OS X on it (or at least some streamlined Linux). Both alternatives have Firefox, Thunderbird, and OpenOffice with the same look and feel as under WinXP, which cover almost all everyday requirements.Get more detail about ASUS Eee PC 1000HA 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB E-Storage, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Fine Ebony.
