ASUS Eee PC 1000HA 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB E-Storage, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Fine Ebony

I recently purchased the ASUS 1000HA because I needed a portable computer to do on-the-fly work for a hospital I work at, and for light web surfing. I get called at random times when I'm off work to do this and that so I needed a laptop that wasn't a burden to carry around, but was also up the task of running the software I use for work.

I was skeptical about a 10" screen, but I took a chance on it and after seeing it in person it is fantastic. It's just the right size. It's not too small where you would have trouble reading it, but it's big enough so that screen doesn't look all jumbled up.

The keyboard seems great so far. It's just a little smaller than a regular laptop keyboard. The keys aren't "clicky" like some keyboards can be. That drives me crazy. The different power modes are great to get the most of out the battery. I can get a good 5+ hours in power saving mode with the screen brightness turned down to 50%. The multi-gesture track pad is so great. If you've used a mac then you know what I'm talking about. All in all this is a great system.

I do think you should spring for the 2gb ram upgrade from OCZ on Amazon. I could have several tabs open in Firefox and try to do other things and have a little stutter to the system, but the ram upgrade solved that. I plan on getting a slim USB-powered portable DVD-burner to go with it. I haven't had a need for the CD/DVD drive yet, but I'd like to have it just in case.
